Michael Vartan Is Married

Michael Vartan is off the market thanks to a serendipitous trip to the grocery store.

The former Alias star married Lauren Skaar, whom he met two years ago at a Whole Foods in L.A., at The Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Beach, Calif., on Saturday.

"My family was thrilled," Vartan tells PEOPLE. "They love Lauren and could not be happier. Now all my mother talks about is grandchildren."

Adds Skaar: "Our families both took an immediate liking to our partners and knew probably before we did that this was serious and going somewhere."

Vartan, who currently stars in Hawthorne, popped the question in New York in March of last year. But according to Skaar, the two didn't start dating immediately.

"We met at a grocery store in L.A.," she says. "Michael approached me after some well calculated "stalking," as I like to call it. We didn't date right away. I wouldn't give him my number but did take his e-mail address, and we didn't see each other until a few months after our first meeting. That was almost two years ago."

At Saturday's ceremony, the groom's Alias costar Victor Garber was a groomsman, and Vartan, 42, wore a two button Giorgio Armani tuxedo with a classic white pique tuxedo shirt and black bow tie.

Best Friends

Skaar wore a Vera Wang dress that was customized by her bridal shop, L'atelier Couture, in Saint Paul, Minn., converting what was once a one shoulder gown into a strapless dress with a sweetheart neckline. She also added an Oscar de la Renta belt detailed with mother of pearl and Swarovski crystals.

"It was much more couture than I ever thought I'd wear," she says of the dress, "but I just fell in love with it."

While Skaar did much of the wedding planning, she says Vartan "had a lot of input."

The wedding's theme was "evening spring," Skaar says, and the couple, who wrote their own vows, picked an eclectic assortment of music and had their first dance to a song by Icelandic band Sigur Ros.

As for honeymoon plans, Vartan has to report back to the set of Hawthorne on Tuesday. "Just bad luck with the timing," he says, "but at least we have three months to plan something very romantic."

Looking ahead, he says, "Our plans for the future are to live a happy, simple life, have kids, lots of dogs and go with the flow. I married my best friend; [it] shouldn't be too hard!"

“Alias” star Michael Vartan married girlfriend Lauren Skaar at the Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Beach, California on Saturday.

According to People.com, Skaar wore a strapless dress by Vera Wang with a sweetheart neckline and a Swarovski crystal Oscar de la Renta belt. Vartan wore a two-button tuxedo by Giorgio Armani.

The theme for the wedding was “evening spring” and floral arrangements included cherry blossom trees along with yellow and pink roses. The couple recited self-written vows in a gazebo overlooking the ocean.

Vartan’s “Alias” co-star Victor Garber was a groomsmen.

The couple met a Whole Foods grocery store in Los Angeles and got engaged in New York last March.

Alias Star Michael Vartan Weds!

Alias' Michael Vartan is no longer a single man!

He wed girlfriend Lauren Skaar at the Pelican Hill Resort in Newport Beach, California on Saturday.

The couple met in an El Lay Whole Foods parking lot in 2009 and have been in love ever since.

They exchanged vows, overlooking the ocean, in a gazebo that was adorned with gold curtains and surrounded by cherry blossom trees.

When asked about his beautiful bride, Michael said:

　　She's my best friend in the world and that's why I asked her to marry me. I have more fun with her than with anyone I've ever met. I just woke up one day and could not imagine living without her. The great thing about her and me is that I feel like I can be 100 percent myself."

Michael Vartan Is a Married Man

Michael Vartan, 42, exchanged vows on Saturday with his girlfriend of almost two years, Lauren Skaar, at a Newport Beach resort in Southern California.

The former 'Alias' star, now in the cast of TNT's 'Hawthorne' with Jada Pinkett Smith, first met his bride at a Whole Foods grocery store in Los Angeles, according to People.com. Vartan's 'Alias' co-star, Victor Garber, was a groomsmen in the wedding party.

"Our plans for the future are to live a happy, simple life, have kids, lots of dogs and go with the flow," Vartan said of his wedding. "I married my best friend."

Vartan proposed last year in New York City. "Our families both took an immediate liking to our partners and knew probably before we did," says his new wife, "that this was serious and going somewhere."

"My family was thrilled," confirms Vartan, who dated his 'Alias' co-star Jennifer Garner back in 2003 (they broke up in 2004). "They love Lauren and could not be happier. Now all my mother talks about is grandchildren."

Skaar walked down the aisle in Vera Wang. She recalls that she and her TV star spouse never rushed into dating; instead, a courtship evolved slowly: "We met at a grocery store in L.A.," she says. We had the honor of planning Lauren and Michael Vartan’s wedding, a true class act couple. I am sure many of you ladies had crushes on Michael when he was co-starring in the tv show ALIAS! Many think that celebrities are arrogant or scary and shy away from working with them. In this case, he is the exact opposite of ANY stereotypes. Michael is humble, gracious and sincere. I found myself blessed with working with easy down to earth people. Michael has found himself a true gem Lauren, as his face lights up when he sees her, a very romantic soul btw.
