Lipstick Jungle Lives
Reports of the demise of “Lipstick Jungle” may have been premature. The NBC drama about well-heeled women in New York, starring Brooke Shields, was shuffled off to Friday nights two weeks ago amid reports that the show was canceled and that the remaining episodes would not be shown. But as of this week “Lipstick Jungle” is breathing again. The reason: It showed signs of life on Friday and picked up 50 percent more viewers when delayed viewing (from DVRs and other devices) was included in the ratings for the episode broadcast a week earlier. Ben Silverman, the co-chairman of NBC Entertainment, said the network will definitely finish the 13 episodes that it originally ordered — it has four more episodes to go — and may order more if the show “grows more.”

NBC cancels Lipstick Jungle

Estrogen-fueled buddy romp cancelled in second season; all 13 season-two episodes shot, but will they be aired?
L to R: my future wife, Kim Raver, Brooke Shields.
The same day NBC gave the Lipstick Jungle has also been booted from the schedule, says Variety. Rumors had been swirling for a few days about the drama's future, but sources say it's a done deal now.
The cancellation of Lipstick Jungle probably doesn't come as a surprise to most. The show was banished to Friday nights to scoot cop-drama Life over to a more favorable slot not too long ago, basically signaling that NBC had given up on Lipstick Jungle. If last year's television schedule had been strike-free, Lipstick probably would have puckered up for the last time a while ago, but many 2007 fall shows were saved due to the unusual conditions and were fighting to stay alive.
All 13 episodes of the second season of Lipstick Jungle have been shot, but it's unclear if they will ever air. It's also unclear what NBC would put in Lipstick's stead on Friday nights should the network pull it altogether.
Wait, so this means no more Lindsay Price on television? Nooooooooooooo! Sound off below, Lipstick Jungle fans and haters!
